CareNet’s approach is characterised by its focus on technoscientific and material aspects, its concern for social justice and the biopolitical dimension, and its methodological experimentation with forms of knowledge production and social intervention.
The Materiality of Care in Crisis
What infrastructures, technologies, and knowledge systems shape forms of support, care, and attention, as well as the crises, disasters, and vulnerabilities they respond to? CareNet explores these questions through Science and Technology Studies (STS), new materialisms, ecofeminisms, and multispecies studies.
Lives in Crisis, Lives Cared For?
Which lives are cared for, and which are abandoned or harmed? Through what mechanisms and practices, and in which contexts and situations? CareNet examines the power relations and dynamics that shape crises and the ways in which life is sustained, as well as the subjects who provide and receive care, from feminist perspectives, critical disability studies, Mad Studies, governmentality studies, and Animal Studies.
Caring for the Crisis of Methods
What methods do we need to understand, participate in, and intervene in crises and forms of care? CareNet is interested in developing forms of knowledge production that explore new ways of enhancing the public and collaborative relevance of research and social intervention practices in a context marked by a crisis in knowledge production.
