On Tuesday, April 28, from 15:30 to 17:30, the workshop “Dones i memòria al Campus Mundet: Absències, pèrdua i representacions del passat” will take place in Room 207, Faculty of Geography and History, Universitat de Barcelona. The event is organized within the framework of the research project “Les absents del record: dones i memòria del Camp de Concentració del Campus Mundet”, coordinated by Belén Jiménez (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) and co-funded by the Memorial Democràtic and the Carenet (UOC).
The workshop aims to open a collective reflection on the layers of memory associated with the Campus Mundet of the University of Barcelona, and particularly on those histories that have remained less visible in dominant narratives. The event will bring together historians, researchers, and members of the educational community to discuss the different historical uses of the site (military barracks, concentration camp, shelter for homeless people, and present-day university campus) as well as the reasons why these memories remain largely unknown today. Special attention will also be given to the role of women linked to these spaces and to the ways in which their experiences have been largely absent from historical accounts.
The program will include a presentation of the research project “Les absents del record: dones i memòria del Camp de Concentració del Campus Mundet”, as well as the pedagogical work developed with students from the Anna Gironella de Mundet Secondary School during the Project Week, with the participation of both teachers and students. The workshop will also feature a roundtable moderated by Queralt Solé, with historians Aram Monfort, Neus Moyano, and Ramon Naya.
The activity is funded by the Memorial Democràtic, with the collaboration of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). Some of the activities are also developed within the framework of the research project “Contemporary Representations of Grief and Pain: Visibility, Agency, and Social Transformation Through the Image” (Knowledge Generation Project 2022 – Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, code PID2022-137176OA-I00).
